Mill & Wright Automation for small businesses Book a call

A website that does useful work

If you do not have one, we build it. If you already have one, we connect it to your systems.

What it is

A website should do work, not only describe the business.

Most small business websites work as a printed brochure does. They describe the business accurately, collect the occasional enquiry into an inbox that is checked now and then, and do very little else.

We build websites that answer the questions people call to ask, record the enquiry properly, reply immediately, and pass the details to the right person within a minute.

If you do not have a website at all, that is a perfectly reasonable position. We will build a small, fast one that pays for itself, rather than a large one that does not.

What it includes

The things we are usually asked for

  • A first website for businesses that have never needed one: small, fast, and built around the five questions customers actually ask.
  • Enquiry forms wired straight into your automations, with an instant acknowledgement to the customer.
  • Bookings that land in the right calendar without an email exchange.
  • Local search listings set up correctly, so that people looking for you can find you.
  • Pages fast enough to load on a poor mobile connection, and accessible to everyone.
  • Rebuilds of websites that look well designed but lose enquiries.
What changes

What you'd actually notice

Enquiries reach someone

Every submission reaches a person quickly, and a record is kept.

Typical: answered within minutes

You appear in searches

Customers looking for a business like yours are able to find you.

Typical: found directly

Fast on a mobile

Most of your visitors use a phone, often on a poor connection.

Typical: loads in under a second

The three situations we are asked about most

If you have no website. The business runs on recommendation and the telephone still rings. The cost is simply that many people check a business exists before calling it. We would build one fast page answering the five questions people call to ask, a form that sends the details straight to your phone, and a local listing set up correctly.

If your website is a brochure. The form arrives in an inbox that is not monitored closely, and the customer may have contacted someone else before it is read. We would add an immediate acknowledgement, send the enquiry to the right person within a minute, record the details where your team works, and follow up if there has been no reply by the end of the day.

If your website works but is not connected. A good site with reasonable traffic, where every enquiry still means someone entering the same details into three places. We would draft the quote from what the customer submitted, place bookings in the right calendar, and send the updates that are easy to forget.

Questions we get on this

We already have a website we are happy with.

Then we would not suggest rebuilding it. Most of the value is in what happens after someone completes the form, and that can be added to the website you already have.

How long does a first website take?

We agree the timescale with you before we begin, and we hold to it. A small site built around a handful of questions is quick to deliver.

Who owns it?

You do: the domain, the content and the code. The same applies to everything else we build.

Twenty minutes, and three tasks named

Tell us which tasks take the most time. On the call we will tell you which of them we would automate first, what the work involves, and what it would cost.

We would rather build one small thing that runs for years than sell you a large system you have to keep paying for.
